Slides are also susceptible to damage and can be digitally retained during the slide scanning process while also maintaining their original quality just in the same way as microfilm, microfiche and aperture card scanning works.

If there is a very large archive of photographs from a large collection or organisation then they can also be returned on DVD’s which hold over 6 times as much data as a CD. These can additionally be hosted securely online or stored on a local network with relevant security access levels.
