Microfilm and Microfiche Conversion Services

Microfilm Conversion and Microfiche Conversion to digital format is a big step forward in an efficient document management process. These films and fiche were a long term storage method for many documents around 20-30 years ago.

The microfiche and microfilms are often stored away in the hope that they will be very rarely required. This is not always the case and when it comes to finding any individual documents among these it is not always a straight-forward task.

By digitising the microfilms/microfiche into an electronic format they can be stored on any computer, a local network or kept on CD’s for easy retrieval. Searching for one specific document becomes a lot easier as it can be found using a quick text search with our retrieval software so there is no longer a need to manually search through each film just for one particular document.

A lot of people think that the best thing they can do is purchase or rent a Microfiche Reader, but this just isn't the case in terms of cost and overall useability. Read a little bit more about why our service is superior to a Microfiche Reader here.

Microfilm and microfiche conversion process

The microfilm and microfiche conversion process is quite straight forward and our turnaround times are as little as 24 hours especially if there is an urgent requirement to have these files scanned and converted quickly.

The first step is to collect any microfilms or microfiche directly from your office and bring them back to our main scanning bureau in Manchester to start the scanning and conversion process.

Process of scanned files in conversion

The image above shows an example of the organising process for digitising the files through microfiche and microfilm scanning. Firstly the microfilm is scanned in using our top end microfilm/microfiche scanners so the electronic documents should retain their original quality.

Once we have scanned the images from the films we then index the files for each film exactly how you require, whether it is one file per microfilm/fiche, per reference group or per site etc. They are later put onto a CD which will contain all of the archived files in an easy to navigate, fully indexed format.

Once the microfilms or microfiche are converted you will have the peace of mind knowing that the digitised documents are safely backed up, they can be copied multiple times and hosted online if necessary. They also offer greater accessibility even while away from the office if required. This is why microfiche and microfilm conversion has become necessary for so many organisations.

Microfilm and Microfiche Conversion = Easy Access!

These digitised files can then be accessed on-screen instantly for convenience on a local network or hard drive. Pearl Scan also offer document management systems, document hosting and electronic retrieval software to allow greater access to these files securely online which means they can be accessed anywhere on or off-site.

We can produce a system which integrates seamlessly with your current office processes or even integrate with any current software packages you may be using.

The convenience and costs saved involved in implementing a document retrieval and document management system is a guaranteed return on investment and offers much more professional organisation of the data in your office.
