Book Scanning Services

We have carried out many high profile book scanning, magazine scanning and numerous publication scanning projects over the years. These can range from a one off text book scan to electronic archiving of a large library of publications and magazines.

With our experienced book scanning staff the greatest of care is taken to ensure there is no damage made to the originals. Book ScanningThis is also made easier by using our overhead scanners with sophisticated page capture technology so very little handling is required by the scanning operator. Image enhancement is normally applied to any poor quality or aged books in order to produce the best quality final images.

The Book Scanning/Magazine Scanning process

Once the books are scanned in at high resolution they are saved in page number order in whatever format the client prefers whether it is JPEG, TIFF or PDF. JPEG and TIFF would appear as flat images on a screen where the user can zoom in to view certain areas of the document. PDF however can include the text searchable feature once the text data is captured using advanced OCR data capture.

PDF format along with OCR captured text ensures that all the words from the page are then recognised within the document so if you need to search for a keyword throughout the whole book then it will bring up all of those words and the pages that they are displayed upon!

Once every page has been scanned in and electronically indexed together in order, it is then put into one uniform format and burned to CD or DVD which we deliver to your door as part of our scanning process.

Benefits of scanning books and magazines

Many clients have found book scanning very useful when they need to preserve ageing or valuable books that may be sustaining damage over a long period of time. It also ensures you have an electronic copy of any required book on your computer which can be easily accessed at any time or emailed and distributed if necessary.

These electronic copies can be converted into an e-book if required where the documents are read page by page just like an actual book but on screen.

How much does Book scanning cost?

This all depends on the amount of books you have, the size of the books and any specific requirements you would have regarding their final storage output.
